Do you ever get inspired to search for a specific car for sale?
I was doing just that when I entered the search terms "Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1" into eBay this evening. Not to anyone's surprise, I found a seemingly endless amount of ZR-1s that have been driven to car cruises, high school reunions, and retirement picnics -- a total of 118 miles. Then I came across this one owner 108,000 mile 2009 C6 ZR-1. I was in awe.
That means one bad ass guy bought the most bad ass American super car (in 2009 at least) and drove it every damn day. These are the guys that make the automotive community celebrate. They are the ones that inspired me to get rid of my GTI because it wasn't exciting enough -- because giving something up in the name of automotive enthusiasm is what defines our culture.
The accident was reported in 2013, and was obviously repaired and continued to be driven by the original owner. So, if you put the accident into context: the original owner (our hero) wrecked the car, fixed it, continued to drive it for two years and since accumulated over 100,000 miles. Not a bad deal if you ask me -- especially if you are looking to get into a 200 mph (!) super car for the same price as a Honda Odyssey and aren't concerned with resale value.
The car is being offered by Hovey Motorcars in San Antonio, Texas and details are scarce. Other than the reference for potential buyers to review the Carfax report prior to bidding, there isn't much information to build confidence in the seller. Considering this and Hoonable's recent article on Texas title washing, we would be very skeptical of the "Clean" title coming from the Lone Star State.
